Kelsey’s E3 2018 Favorites

I ended up with a HUGE list of games that look cool after the conferences this year! Here are the highlights.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

We know very little about this one (there’s not even a logo yet!), but it’s Star Wars and it sounds like you get to play as a Jedi, so OF COURSE I’m in. EA says it’s an “action adventure game which tells an original Star Wars story around a surviving Padawan set shortly after the events of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.” Respawn’s blog also says it’s going to be a third-person action/adventure game. Respawn previously brought us the Titanfall games.

Sea of Solitude

This looks like a really cool exploration game that switches between beautiful and creepy. EA says, “When humans get too lonely, they turn into monsters. That’s what happened to Kay. But she’s not alone – this ocean is full of creatures just like her. Finding them may be the key to changing her back.” The writer and creative director is Cornelia Geppert, and it was clear from her presentation that she’s very passionate about Sea of Solitude.

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit

A new story in the Life is Strange universe, this stand-alone game is coming out on June 26 for free! The team says it’s going to have clues about Life is Strange 2, and choices made will carry over to that game.

Cyberpunk 2077

From the team behind The Witcher series, this awesome-looking RPG will feature creating your own character, really cool aesthetics, your very own cool car, a whole new way to look at makeup application, and romance!

Outer Wilds

I streamed this with my friend back when it was in alpha, and I can’t wait for the full version! I want to camp and roast marshmallows in space. And discover new planets, I guess.

Sable

This is one of the most visually unique and beautiful games I’ve seen in a long time. The team says: “Sable is a coming-of-age tale of discovery through exploration across a strikingly rendered open world desert. Go on a deeply personal journey across an alien planet as the young Sable, exploring ancient monuments, ruined architecture, and ships fallen from the cosmos, all while learning the history of its inhabitants and discovering her place in the world.” I can’t wait to explore this world.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades

This was a surprise! You’ll be able to play TES: Blades on your iPhone, iPad, or Android. It looks really pretty, and I’m looking forward to having Elder Scrolls in my pocket.

Starfield

Bethesda in SPAAAAAACE, that’s all I need to know, SIGN ME UP.

The Elder Scrolls VI

Now we know what we all assumed: TESVI is in the works! There’s a mountain range in it! Start warming up that jump button.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

The newest in the series will add RPG elements, dialogue and story choices, romance unrestricted by gender, AND you can play as a woman! I can’t wait! This is going to be my birthday gift to myself.

Neo Cab

It’s described as an “emotional survival” game, you play as a woman, and the art is stunning.

Morning Star

The trailer starts out with a peaceful farm scene, then transitions to an abandoned room with a computer in it. It’s described as a “first-person farming game set in a post-cyberpunk world where computers are your soil and software is your seeds. Explore, rebuild, or exploit a community on the outset of a cyberpunk dystopia. It’s your choice to help build a better future.” It seems like a really cool twist on a genre I love.

Two Point Hospital

A modern take on the classic 1997 Theme Hospital from Bullfrog, you get to build your own hospital and cure weird diseases!

Control

This looks really fun! Woman protagonist, cool visuals, and you can fly! It’s from Remedy, which you might know from Alan Wake, Max Payne 1 and 2, and Quantum Break.
