Best Classic I Revisited: Pokémon Snap, 1999
I remember my sister and I would play this game for hours when we were younger. It was a lot of fun, and in a fit of nostalgia I played it again this year. While it may be dated, it was still fun, and Snorlax was still one of the most difficult photographs to take.
Best Action Game: Star Wars Battlefront, 2015
I didn’t know what to expect from this game; it came included in the Star Wars PS4 bundle I bought. It was an enjoyable game, especially if you have someone else to play with. It offers a variety of locations, from Hoth to Endor. You get to fly an X-wing or play as Darth Vader. The options are awesome, and it’s a game most Star Wars fans would enjoy.
Best Old-Ass Game I Finally Finished: Red Dead Redemption, 2010
This may not be an extremely old game, but it’s been half-finished for the past five years. I finally decided the time had come to finish it, and was not that disappointed. Some of the mini-games were repetitive, but the story itself kept me interested enough. That ending! It’s quite sad, but kind of expected.
Game of the Year: Game of Thrones: A Telltale Games Series, 2014
I didn’t get to play as many games as I’d like vs last year, and kept up mostly with episodic games. The first episode of the series was released in December 2014, with the rest released throughout 2015. Most of the decisions made were difficult, and it was a great addition to the already grand world of the TV and book series. The last episode in particular has some of the hardest decisions to make, and of course, it being Games of Thrones, not everyone makes it out.
Most Anticipated Game: Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, April 26, 2016
This game has been delayed a couple of times, with the latest release date set for April of this year. The previous games are great and almost movies. This is Nathan Drake’s last hurrah. I hope later down the line, we see spin-off games with Elena and Chloe.
