Ys II Chronicles Plus — A Complete Playthrough!

Ys II Chronicles+ is, naturally, the second game in the Ys I&II Chronicles+ bundle on Steam. It’s the latest remake of Ys II: Ancient Ys Vanished – The Final Chapter, released in 2013. Although I’ve never fully played through the original release of Ys II (though I do have Ys Books I & II on the TurboGrafx CD), I can say that this version was a lot of fun to play. The music is expertly remastered, the graphics are great, and the gameplay retains the original feel but with a bit of a modern twist. Oh, and the story is good too (deep in places, but it certainly has its lighter moments too).

I know what you’re thinking – this is over 8 hours long! Yes, it is, but it represents a total and complete playthrough of Ys II Chronicles+ on the PC, broken up into six chapters and a finale section. In fact, if you open the video description on YouTube, you’ll find a chapter select so that you can jump ahead to the parts you want to see, making navigation much easier.

A lot of work went into producing this complete playthrough. I started streaming it back in February 2015 and then finished what was left via some recorded videos, finishing the project this month. Naturally, a good bit of time went into piecing all of the segments together, encoding them, and finally uploading them, but I think the final product (released in 1080p60) stands for itself. It should be a lot of fun to watch over the course of the many viewings it would take!

Anyway, I may follow suit with Ys IV: Dawn of Ys, which was recently fan-dubbed into English. For those who don’t know, Ys IV actually takes place between the second and third games chronologically, and Dawn of Ys is believed by many to be the best version of Ys IV, despite that Mask of the Sun and Memories in Celceta are the “canon” versions, but more on that one in a future post.

Enjoy, and please subscribe to help build my channel! 🙂
