Handing Over the Reins: Your New EIC

Sarah The Rebel

Hi everyone,

Long time no talk! You probably noticed that I’ve been a little absent from posting articles on Nerdy But Flirty. Or maybe you didn’t notice, because you don’t love me. 😛

Whatever the case, I have been on break from NBF for quite a while, as I dealt with my paying job (Geek & Sundry) and all our crazy, busy plans for conventions etc. While I was gone, I asked Kelsey, our head editor, to take my place running NBF. We decided not to publicly announce it at the time, but for all extents and purposes, Kelsey has been your true EIC for months now. The idea was that I would return after life slowed down. Instead, life picked up, and I realized I would never be able to give NBF the nurturing care it deserved.

So it is with a happy heart that I announce that Kelsey is now officially your new NBF EIC. In case you don’t know anything about her, let me enlighten you: Kelsey is dependable, loyal, funny, silly, hard-working, and all around amazing. She has managed every writer to come into NBF since our first major overhaul long ago. She is the one who edits the articles, vets review opportunities, and assigns stories. She is, to be honest, even more capable of running an amazing female-geek-focused site than I am.

She has some new ideas, so you may see some changes with the site, and she has lots of plans. I’m excited to see where Kelsey takes NBF! I plan to watch like a proud Aunty!

I can’t really express the experience of watching something you’ve created inspire and help young women reach their goals in the geeky world, but it is amazing. I hope you will continue to support NBF as we give voice to diversity in gaming, comics and every other geeky thing we get our grubby little hands on.

Unless things change, you will still see my face over on the NBF YouTube page, so don’t be a stranger! And be sure to follow NBF on Twitter and to like on Facebook.

Hugs and kisses,

Sarah The Rebel

Hello everyone! I’m very excited to be your new Editor-in-Chief. I have a lot of ideas for the site in the new year – including continuing the itch.io series, highlighting more awesome women in gaming, and creating a Steam curator list. I’m also looking to expand the writing team, so if you’re reading this and you want in, just e-mail me at editor at nerdybutflirty dot com! Meeting Sarah was one of the best things that’s happened to me – she’s given me so many opportunities, and while her leaving the site is a bit sad, I think I’ll make her proud with where it goes. This month, look forward to many Christmas articles! We’ll also be making our Game of the Year picks, so keep an eye on us. Thank you, as always, for reading.

Love, Kelsey

  1. Ugh…life seems to be getting in the way of many awesome journalists lately, hope everything goes fine for you Sarah, I don’t talk too much around, but if you get some hits from Costa Rica, I’m pretty sure that would be me, as every time I have some spare time, this is one of my mandatory stops around the net. Congratulations on the promotion Kelsey, and I’ll be sure to keep checking around to see the path the site takes.
