Her Majesty’s Spiffing is a Kickstarter from BillyGoat Entertainment. They are asking for £30,000, and have raised £7,166 so far – with only four days left. Crazy things have been known to happen with Kickstarters though, so there’s still hope for the team! Here’s the plot:

The Queen (Bsc, Ssc, Defender of the Faith) has decided that she wants to expand the British Empire once again. However (given that this is the near future), the conventional methods of going about such a task (sailing up the Mediterranean, blowing up a few boats, and subduing the indigenous population that survive, for example) are now somewhat frowned upon. Thus, Her Majesty has instead…turned to the stars!

The first goal is to make the first episode of the game, with stretch goals to make the remaining two chapters. Influences include the LucasArts series of classics and Monty Python. You can get the game for only £12, with reward levels going up to £1,500. I’m actually not sure why this game hasn’t garnered more attention – a point-and-click adventure in space with British humor (humour!) seems like a wonderful thing to me. And there’s a gorilla in a space suit…come on, people. I hope the Kickstarter can gain a lot of traction in its final days!
