Comic Review: Halo: Escalation #1

A new Halo comic series! Just what I wanted for Christmas! As you may remember from my reviews of other Halo comics, I’m a big fan of the Halo universe. Halo: Escalation #1 starts in classic Star Trek fashion, with a holodeck fight!

Halo Escalation

The story quickly takes off, full of action movie tropes, quick beats of humor, and tons of action. If you like military action movies, you’ll love Halo comics. You can definitely tell that the lead writer for Halo 4 authored this piece. The art is solid, but with lots of pastels, which aren’t really to my taste.

Overall, this is a promising first issue and I can’t wait for issue #2!

Plot

The UNSC flagship Infinity is assigned escort duty for a diplomatic mission between the Arbiter and a powerful chieftain of the Brute tribes—but when a rogue Covenant group attacks, it’s going to take all the firepower the Spartans have to keep the delegates alive!
