Marvel is having a contest aimed at getting young girls interested in STEM subjects! Check out the info below:
“Natalie Portman plays Jane Foster, an astrophysicist, in Marvel’s Thor series. Marvel is currently sponsoring a contest called the Ultimate Mentor Adventure, and if you’re a girl who is at least age fourteen and enrolled in grades 9-12, you are eligible to enter! Finalists will get to meet women who have made large strides in the science community, conduct interviews, participate in experiments and other interactive events, and go where the public is not generally invited. Winners also get to go to the premier of Thor: The Dark World, where a documentary short about the Ultimate Mentor Adventure will be screened prior to the film. To enter, you fill out a form, interview a local woman in a STEM career, and then create a short video about yourself where you answer the following:
- Tell us about yourself. How are you like the character Jane Foster from Marvel’s Thor?
- Tell us about your interview. Whom did you meet? What does she do? How is her career related to STEM? What inspired you?
- What next steps might you take to explore a STEM career?
- Why do you want to come to California for Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World – Ultimate Mentor Adventure? What do you think you’ll learn?”
