Night Dive Studios recently has worked to bring back I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream and System Shock 2 to be played on modern systems and for a whole new set of gamers to enjoy. Now, they are doing the same with the Wizardry series, a party-based RPG series that began in 1981 and ended in 2001 with Wizardry 8. You can now get Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge, Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant, and Wizardry 8 on Steam. These games are part of the Dark Savant trilogy. These are some of the most celebrated classic RPGs ever made, and many gamers have fond memories of them – I myself remember reading my father’s Wizardry Gold (Wizardry VII‘s Windows update) manual over and over as a kid.

Here are summaries of the individual games:
Wizardry VI: Bane of the Cosmic Forge
Take with you six companions – choose wisely, for having chosen, your fate is in their hands. Enter the ancient castle to retrieve the Cosmic Forge, a magical pen whose writings caused the river of time itself to change course. You will find treasure, armor, and magic items to advance your quest; meet wizened and cryptic dwellers who hold secrets that must be unearthed; and solve the riddles and puzzles that abound.
Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant
You’ll discover both friends and foes as you search for the once forgotten secret of a once madman – the secret of the very universe itself. And you won’t be alone in your search. Others as enterprising as you have also entered this dimension. Only your actions – both past and present – will determine just how well you fare. From the depths of a dungeon to the blue and limitless skies, you’ll see it all.
