The 10th annual Spike TV Video Game Awards were on last night. Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson (who accounted for most of the evening’s bleeps), the award show was one of the more entertaining VGAs that I’ve watched. I especially appreciated Samuel L. Jackson getting inserted into various games and interacting with the characters. Neil Patrick Harris even made a cameo appearance! Maybe he’ll host next year, making him the only person to have ever hosted every awards show known to man (probably).
The Best Character award was promoted throughout the night via videos recorded by the characters themselves. It was great to see FemShep and ManShep (is that the term?) together promoting votes for Commander Shepard!
The coolest presenters, in my opinion, were Norman Reedus (Daryl), Steven Yeun (Glenn), and Danai Gurira (Michonne) from The Walking Dead. It was odd to see them all in formal wear after getting so used to them in zombie fighting gear – they clean up nice!
