The first competitive female gamer was also the oldest! Doris Self signed up for the 1983 Video Game Masters Tournament when she was fifty-eight years old. Then she went on to break the world record for Q*Bert with 1,112,300 points. She kept playing until her death at age eighty-one from a car accident.
