Smithsonian Video Game Exhibit

Hold on to your seats, nerdy video game lovers!

The Smithsonian is going to run an exhibit in March of 2012 that  highlights the “evolution of gaming from the past 40 years.”

Who decides what is going to be in the exhibit? We do!

They have split gaming into five eras:

  1. Start: 1970s-1980s
  2. 8-Bit: early 1980s-early 1990s
  3. Bit Wars!: early 1990s-mid 1990s
  4. Transition: mid 1990s-early 2000s
  5. Next Generation: early 2000s-today

Within those eras, you can vote on specific systems and genres. All you need to vote is an email address.
