Things are cooling down as we head into the winter months. Wrap yourselves up as you head out to shop for last-minute gifts or buy tickets to upcoming conventions. With two new consoles to play with, new games are coming out quickly! This winter, we have a couple game releases and a few conventions. You’ll also get to pick your end-of-year holiday of choice!
December
December 5th
It was the Day of the Ninja! Nearly the opposite of Talk like a Pirate day, this day celebrated the invisible mercenaries.
December 25
We here at Nerdy but Flirty hope everyone who celebrates Christmas has a wonderful day, filled with nerdy presents. For those who don’t celebrate Christmas, you can celebrate Isaac Newton’s birthday! He’s the guy who figured out why apples fall from trees. This website suggests decorating a tree with fruit loosely, so that apples will occasionally fall down. In addition, there’s a “Grav-Mass” carol to sing too!
December 31st
The Last Guardian is released. It’s the third game by the acclaimed development staff behind ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. In the game, a young boy and a bizarre, gigantic creature form a heartfelt bond as they attempt to maneuver their way through an unfriendly world.
January
January 3rd – 5th
Evil Con in Tampa, Florida is a multi-genre fan convention. It’s a get-together of nerds, geeks, fanatics, and otaku of all varieties. There will be shows, panels, dances, and raves – as well as industry guests, artists, and vendors.
January 5th
The Los Angeles Comic Book & Science Fiction Convention is a day-long exposition that will be featuring talent from Adventure Time and celebrating the 50th anniversary of Gilligan’s Island. In addition, a large marketplace filled with comic books is sure to delight.
January 24-26
Fans converge on the Oregon Convention Center at Portland Comic Con to celebrate the best in pop culture. Movies, comics, toys, video gaming, games, TV, graphic novels, horror, wrestling, MMA, original art, collectibles, anime, manga, and more!
February
February 1st
Fable Anniversary Edition is released for the Xbox 360. February 7th – 9th
New Orleans Comic Con 2014 is a comic book convention which will be held on February 7-9th, 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Put on by the same people who put on the Portland Comic Con, it’s sure to be a good time.
February 11th
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is released for Xbox360 and PS3. “The world of Gran Pulse is sinking into the sea and what remains is now called Nova Chrysalia.
