Alright, so we all know that Halloween is traditionally about women dressing up as  “sexy” somethings. (Sexy squid and sexy pizza lady, really?) But why not dress up as a powerful lady? What’s sexier than a kickass woman? Yes, I know we all know that brainy is the new sexy, but keep with me here!

Here is my top ten list, in no particular order, of the most kickass, strong, and amazing women who would be perfect to dress up as for Halloween!

1. Mikasa Ackerman from Attack on Titan

Mikasa is so friggin’ kickass I can’t even stand it. Everyone agrees that she is the best at fighting the gigantic, human-eating titans, and more often than not, she’s the one who saves everyone. If you haven’t seen the show or read the manga, you should go do that right now. AMAZING.

2. Faith from Mirror’s Edge

In the video game, Faith is a part of a group called runners, who are basically parkour experts who are working against the government. Not only is she super kickass, she can leap across buildings and take down cops with her bare hands. Besides that, her outfit is awesome! And it’s not often that you come across a first-person video game, or any video game for that matter, that uses only a woman as a protagonist.

3. Commander Shepard from Mass Effect

In Mass Effect, Commander Shepard (you choose to be either male or female), is pretty much the most badass person alive, and it’s up to her to save the galaxy. Check out all that awesome armor! What’s more sexy than that? What’s super cool is that you can design your own armor. As long as it’s in the style of the game, and you put the “N7” on it, it’s totally acceptable!

4. Chell from Portal

Portal is another example of a game that uses only a female protagonist. Chell is one of the only people left alive in this weird testing facility in the future, and she has to outwit a murderous computer to gain her freedom. Turrets and chambers full of fire can’t stop her! Check out some more pictures.

5. Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons from Game of Thrones

Holy crap, Dany is so cool! She manages to go from scared little girl to kickass warrior queen and mother of dragons! Now she leads armies and sacks cities. Plus, her outfits are friggin’ awesome. This outfit is from season one, but the rest of the seasons are pretty cool too.

This one is actually mine, so I don’t have to link to anyone else! 🙂 This costume is great, because if you want a creepy couple’s costume (who doesn’t want to creep all their friends out?!), you can have your significant other dress up as Viserys Targaryen, her creepy incestuous brother. It turns out looking a little like this:

6. Nilin from Remember Me

Nilin is another character who is fighting against a future government. At the beginning of the game, all of her memories are gone. Throughout the game, Nilin slowly remembers her martial arts skills, as opposed to just instances in time. Definitely a kickass woman! Check out the awesome site where I found this picture!

7. Korra from The Legend of Korra

Korra is the Avatar, the only person who can bend all four elements. Avatars are reincarnated every time an old one dies. They have a ton of power and are responsible for making major decisions. Super cool people.

8. Starbuck (Kara Thrace) from Battlestar Galactica

Starbuck is one of my favorite characters from BSG. She’s outspoken, strong, and she’ll get the job done, even if it’s risky or dangerous. She’s a little crazy, which makes her even more deadly in combat. And she’s totally sexy too. I mean, just look at that cigar! You can see all of her other stuff here.

9. Phedre from Kushiel’s Dart

If you want to dress up for Halloween as a strong woman who is also amazingly sexy, dress up as Phedre. In the books, she is trained as a courtesan and a spy. More than just that, she is touched by one of the gods to experience pain as pleasure. She uses her skills and sexual power to gain allies and find out information. Oh, and she manages to save the entire kingdom from invasion against all odds. Check out the rest of the pictures of this wonderful costume here!

10. Lara Croft from Tomb Raider

Going back to a classic, who doesn’t think Lara Croft is a friggin’ badass? Sexy and kickass – what a perfect combination for Halloween! The new game also has her wearing more logical clothes, so if you wanna tone down the sexy, you can. Regardless of if you dress up as old Lara Croft or new Lara Croft, she’s still a strong woman who’ll kick your face in! Check out the original here.
