Firefly Online – Find a Crew. Find a job. Keep flying.

It’s what every Firefly fan has been waiting for, but not in the way you may have expected! Firefly is making a return in a social online role-playing game based on the cult TV show.

The game is due for release in Summer 2014 and was announced by Fox Digital Entertainment at San Diego Comic-Con last week. Firefly Online is being developed by QMXi and Spark Plug Games and will be playable on iOS and Android.

Andy Gore, CEO of QMXi and Quantum Mechanix Inc., which produces official collectibles and replicas for Firefly, said:

“It has always been our mission to bring the Verse to life for our customers in every way possible. The idea of creating an interactive experience where fans can have their own Firefly adventures — well, that’s just too shiny for words.”

The game lets you assume the role of a ship captain and recruit your crew. You can then embark on missions while making the most of the social features to interact with other Firefly fans.
