Review: The Legend of Korra: The Art of the Animated Series Book 1 will Tide You Over

It goes without saying that Avatar has touched all of its fans’ lives in big ways. How happy were we all when The Legend of Korra finally came out?! It seems as though we are left to wait again while we anticipate the second book in the new series. Well, this stunning art book might help tide all the fans over until then! Published by Dark Horse, and bound for the bestseller list, The Legend of Korra: The Art of the Animated series is a fantastic addition to anyone’s Avatar collection.

This Book One art compendium features beautiful and rare art by Joaquim Dos Santos, Ki-Hyun Ryu, Bryan Konietzko, and many other talented artists who worked on the show. It also has great commentary by the creators throughout the book, giving you a peek into their creative vision for the show from its early sketches to the end of Book One. Fans will recognize the progression of the book and how it follows along seamlessly with the first season of Korra. The amazing amount of work all the artists and creators put into creating The Legend of Korra is apparent throughout.

The Legend of Korra: The Art of the Animated Series Book One is a gem of an art book! I can’t wait until the whole collection is out. Unfortunately, that would also mean that the show is over, so I think I can wait a while. You can pre-order your copy on the Dark Horse website. The book is out on July 17th, just in time for San Diego Comic Con!
