E3 Day Two News

Holy title announcements, Batman!

Microsoft, Ubisoft, EA, and Sony all had their press conferences today, dropping all kinds of titles in their wake. Sarah the Rebel will be bringing you news on the EA conference shortly, because she was in attendance.

Microsoft Conference

A cavalcade of titles were announced in the morning at Microsoft’s Conference.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain: More gameplay was released, featuring Snake riding a horse! The game is now open world, meaning Snake has to deal with the elements in addition to soldiers. The Hideo team has also added the element of night and day, meaning you can now attack in the dark!

Ryse: Son of Rome is a new franchise coming to Xbox One as an exclusive launch title.

Killer Instinct made a roaring debut at the Microsoft Conference as an exclusive Xbox One title. The reveal of this game dredged up a little bit of controversy with a comment that was interpreted as rape joke during a tech demo that made a lot of people, (which awesomely included quite a few men, according to Sarah), uncomfortable. Really, it seemed more like a terribly-scripted trash talk gone awry.

A new franchise called Sunset Overdrive from Insomniac Studios was announced. It’s a zany, over-the-top third person shooter. You can run across roof tops, slide down telephone poles, and run across buildings.

More info on Forza 5 was released from Turn 10, who announced a new cloud-based AI system (making up a new word, “Drivitar,” in the process), which makes the AI system more human and dynamic.

Other titles that were announced were: Minecraft Xbox One Edition, Dead Rising 3, Crimson Dragon, and World of Tanks.

And finally, Microsoft announced the price of Xbox One at $499.99 USD, making the world go; “Naw, we’ll wait for the Arcade Edition to come out.”

Ubisoft Conference

Not to be outdone in title announcements, Ubisoft dropped a few big names of its own. Aisha Taylor hosted the conference.

The latest addition to Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell series, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, will be available this August!

Ubisoft01

A new trailer and gameplay for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag was released. Or as I like to call it, Assassin’s Creed: Pirate Edition.

South Park: The Stick of Truth gets a release window of the holiday season…maybe. No new gameplay has been released yet.

Ubisoft03

After delaying the initial release for about ten months when the game was finished (which we in the development community call a dick move), Ubisoft has announced Rayman Legends gets an all-around release date for September 3.

Ubisoft also announced a few other titles, including RockSmith 2014, Watch Dogs, The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot, The Crew, The Division, and Just Dance 2014.

Sony Conference

Sony got things started by revealing the new PS4 design. I have to say, it looks sexy! They kept the same great controller design. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Sony01

Sony has also announced NO restrictions on used games, NO always online connections, NO authentication, and NO checking in – so NO big brother bullshit! They also announced the price at $399 – a hundred bucks less than Xbox One.

Sony has announced five new games that will be on the PS4: KillZone: Shadow Fall (which will be a launch title), Driveclub, InFamous: Second Son (coming Feb 2014), and two new IPs: Knack and The Order.

Now time for the big game announcements.

Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy XV (Final Fantasy Verses XIII) and…*drumroll*…KINGDOM HEARTS 3!

Bungie has partnered with Activision and Sony to bring us gameplay for Destiny – complete with online co-op and fully-clothed females.

In addition to big name titles, Sony has partnered with independent studios to bring these indie games to the PS4:

Also making their way to the PlayStation is Don’t Starve!, Mercenary Kings, OctoDad, Secret Ponchos, Rays of Dead, Outlast, Oddworld: New N’ Tasty, and Galak-Z.

Second day of E3 is over! Who won the console wars? Nintendo’s conference will be tomorrow, so stay tuned!
