Good news, Canadians! According to a Nintendo press release, on December 7th, the new Wii Mini goes on sale for $99.99 and comes with a red Wii Remote Plus and red Nunchuck controller. The Wii Mini is a smaller version of the Wii and comes in matte black with a red border.
So, what’s the difference? The Wii Mini ONLY plays Wii games. It can’t go on the Internet or play GameCube games. Oh, and it’s also only available in Canada.
Check it out on Best Buy (Canada).
I can definitely see the benefit of having a cheaper version of the console, even if it is bare bones. Would you purchase the Wii Mini?

I find it hilarious that it doesn’t play GC disks, even though GC disks clearly have a smaller footprint than Wii disks.
I agree…what’s the point of not having it play GC discs? People didn’t like when some Wiis weren’t backwards compatible, why continue that?
I just… don’t see the point of the mini craze. Am I not hip? IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME!?
