Street Fighter X Tekken

So…the rumors are true. This could…change…my life. Forever. *extra dramatic voice*

I will finally be able to play Kevin at Street Fighter with full confidence in my abilities.

You see, all these Street Fighter games require a certain kind of rhythm to get the combos. I had that rhythm on fighting games like Mortal Kombat and Tekken, but not on SF or the MvC or MvSNK kind of games. It seemed to require a kind of roll with my thumb on the D pad that gave my poor little fingers blisters, whereas MKTekken, Soul Caliber, Dead or Alive, etc.) had more of a tapping motion to get the combos.

Anyhoo, that was just my experience.

Extra Excited About:

  • According to the G4 article I was reading, the option of fighting with the traditional four-button style with the Tekken characters will be available. This means they haven’t just moved Tekken characters into a SF game, they have tried to incorporate elements of both games into the mix
  • Tag team. I loved Tekken Tag and I loved the tag team elements of games like MvC. Having a partner fly in and help you with a combo is such an exhilarating and satisfying experience.
  • Easter eggs. I hear if you watch the two videos closely, it will give more hints about what will be in the game. Ono says there will be even more done to ease the transition for both Tekken fans and SF fans.

The article mentioned the drop date as sometime this year for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

  2. Great article. I’m really looking forward to this game because I’m a Tekken/Street Fighter fanatic. I love the direction that they are going in and it definitely looks like it’s going to cater to the hardcore fighting fans as well as the fresh faces. While the gameplay does seem a little wild, it’s not as hectic as Marvel vs Capcom 3, which is a plus. I prefer the slower pace with my fighters.

    • I’m just happy they didn’t just switch it over to SF fighting style. They seem to feel like they have a good method for blending the two. And yeah MVC3 made me feel like I was on drugs LOL
