Kill La Kill Explodes into Fall 2013 Anime Season

When the name of Gurren Lagann is evoked, fans sit up and listen. That was what brought many watchful eyes to one of fall 2013’s most anticipated anime, Kill La Kill. The anime is directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by Kazuki Nakashima. Both formerly worked together on Gurren Lagann, which was a major success when it hit the anime scene in 2007. Now, Kill La Kill is the first television anime produced by Trigger, an animation studio formed by ex-Gainax employees (Gainax being the producer of Gurren Lagann and many other popular anime).

From the preview video alone, Kill La Kill seemed to be just as over-the-top as its unofficial predecessor, while maintaining its own identity. The anime has a female protagonist, Ryūko Matoi, and a female antagonist, Satsuki Kiryūin. Ryūko is out to find an owner of the other half of a pair of gigantic, red scissor blades. The wielder has killed her. killlakill

Kill La Kill has a lot going for it, but the first episode is a bit of a mess until the end. Unfortunately, it’s difficult to tell what the plot is without prior knowledge, and the episode just seems to be a lot of over-the-top comedy, randomness, and the occasional fanservice. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing. It makes for a very interesting anime that will end up being very popular this season because of all the risks it takes.

Little has been revealed about the plot besides the basic synopsis in the other paragraph, so hurry and check out this anime if you were/are a Gurren Lagann fan or looking for something completely ridiculous. It can be checked out on Crunchyroll.com
