The second day of Comic-Con is nearing its end, so here’s a quick round-up of some of the news and announcements of the day!
Today marked what’s supposedly one of the first times there was a panel at Comic-Con devoted solely to transgender issues. It was called “Breaking Barriers: Transgender Trends in Popular Culture.” It was created by Prism Comics, and the panelists were Dylan Edwards (Transposes), Melanie Gillman (As the Crow Flies), J.D. Saxon (Mahou Shounen Fight!), Elizabeth Lain (F*** the Limits!: The 30-Day Art Project, This Is Where), Ashley Love (Trans Forming Media, journalist, transsexual advocate), and a Comic-Con Special Guest: famed comics historian Michelle Nolan (Love on the Racks: A History of American Romance Comics). It was moderated by Tara Madison Avery (Dirtheads, Gooch, Prism Comics). Prism Comics also hosted a panel today about LGBT issues, and will be hosting even more panels about LGBT issues as Comic-Con continues. Check out their schedule here.

Another big thing that Comic-Con goers can go check out is the new Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 trailer. The film doesn’t have a panel there, but they do have a major presence where people can take photos with guards and eat at Peeta’s Bakery! They also have a booth where attendees can check out the trailer before it’s released online.
Another new trailer! This time for season five of The Walking Dead. Check it out below!
Tonight is a big night for the comics industry in general, and marks the 26th year of the Eisner Awards. Awards will be given out for 30 categories for works by comics creators and other artists published in 2013. The doors open at 7:45 tonight and the ceremony begins at 8 p.m. Everyone who attends will get a free graphic novel from the Will Eisner Library, published by DC Comics.
