Kickstarter: The Golem

The Golem from Moonbot Studios popped up on Kickstarter back in early February. With its beautiful story-telling and visually-stunning art style, Moonbot plans to bring us a wonderous tale based on ancient folklore that has been told throughout the ages. Hopefully they will have the chance to tell it their way.

The game has the great support of producer/director Guillermo Del Toro, who says, “Moonbot has some of the finest story tellers in the world,” and from what I have seen of this game so far, I agree.

The Golem is described as a third-person action RPG, mixing its narrative with intense action. It is being created using the Unity game engine, an engine Moonbot has used in the past. Currently, The Golem is for Mac, PC, and Linux, but Moonbot hopes to release it on as many platforms as they can, and with your help, they will be able to make this happen! The Golem has all the emotional depth as what we see in film, a linear story-line, and an expansive exploration of the Golem itself.

Here is an excerpt of the story behind The Golem:

“Our game is set in the early 16th century. Europe is being overtaken by Cesare Borgia, ruler of an evil army determined to exploit the world’s greatest cities. Prague has become one of the most innovative cities on Earth and a haven for inventors and pioneers. Rabbi Loew, the greatest scientist and religious leader in all of Prague, must do something to stop this evil force. In a prayer dream, he has a vision of a giant man made of clay, wood, metal and stone — a Golem.

The Golem is an invincible creature; however, it longs for the one thing the guilds did not provide: a soul. Without a soul, the Golem is destined to be at the command of its creators. Throughout the game, you learn to wield the Golem’s great power against Borgia’s army and aid the Golem on its quest to find a soul.”

Build your Golem big, strong, fast, whatever your heart desires and live the story, when Moonbot Studios brings The Golem to life. If you would like to help them make this happen, you can back this Kickstarter here.

Help give this Golem a soul!
