Sarah, also known as VballChick, is a lady gamer from Chicago. She currently serves as a brand ambassador for staffing agencies and Ubisoft. She is a 360 kinda girl, and was selected as a Frag Doll Cadette as part of the Fall 2010 class of Cadettes. I was privileged to meet Sarah IRL at PAX, and I have to say, she is just as nice in person as she is on the interwebz. ❤
1. What is your favorite game right now? What’s your favorite game of all time?
Gotham City Impostors is my favorite game right now. My all time favorite game is Halo 2. It’s what introduced me to professional gaming and a lot of really good friends.
2. Do you feel like you are treated differently in the gaming industry and/or by other gamers due to either your gender or sexual orientation?
I’ve only had one incident where a twitter follower of mine snapped at me after I came out on all my social networks last year on National Coming Out Day. Mostly I’m just trash-talked online for being a girl by typical random idiots like every female gamer is.
I know that a lot of people hide their sexual orientation, because they don’t want to be harassed for it, but I decided to be open about mine so that other LGBTQ people in the industry don’t have to feel ashamed about it. I don’t really know of many lesbians in the gaming industry, but if they are there and scared, I want to let them know that they aren’t the only ones.
