HOLY CRAP, A NEW BANJO-KAZOOIE GAME! (sorta)

Banjo-Kazooie

Get.

EXCITED.

If any of you owned an N64, chances are you played Banjo-Kazooie, considered by many to be the crowning achievement of all Rareware games.

Now, I only recently got onboard the unstoppable Banjo-Kazooie freight train, because I didn’t own an N64 growing up. I had a Dreamcast. The glorious, glorious Dreamcast…

Anyway.

Banjo-Kazooie has been dormant since the last release on Xbox 360, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts ‘N Bolts, was met with mixed reviews. Some, like me, loved it.

Others, like popular Web Celeb and comedy genius JonTron (pictured below), hate it.

But.

Just recently, glorious news has come about.

A group of ex-Rare employees, including series music composer Grant Kirkhope, are hoping to get enough funding to create a spiritual successor to the first two Banjo games.

Now, this obviously won’t be a Banjo game by name, as they don’t have the license, but that hardly matters. If the vibe, music, and gameplay are all evocative of the Banjo masterwork, then the name won’t be necessary.

We’ll all know what we’re really playing.

Check the article here for more info. And follow the project on Twitter if you want to show your support.

BONUS!

Watch JonTron’s retrospective on the first two games in the Banjo series, and his seething hatred for Nuts ‘N Bolts.

Whether you’re a fan of the series or not, it’s goddamn hilarious.
