A Brief History of Women in the Olympics

Can you say girl power? Perhaps it was more appropriate than we thought to have the Spice Girls at the closing ceremony!

This year marked the first time that every country competing in the Olympics had at least one female athlete representing them.

Women from the US far outshone US men in wins, with a total medal count of 58 to 45. And, even more impressively, US women also won the gold count by an overwhelming 29 to 17.
