The Courage, The Wisdom, The Power: Fistful of Rupees

That’s right, folks. The Legend of Zelda is being hybridized with the three Sergio Leone/Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns that kickstarted the genre (A Fistful of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly), and it looks pretty bumpin’, if I do say so myself.

The basic idea of Fistful of Rupees is this: Three individuals with separate goals and wildly different personalities vie for the same treasure in the middle of the vast Gerudo desert. They are; The Courage (Link), the Wisdom (Zelda), and the power (Ganon). Basically, it’s the plot of The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly thrown into a blender with an Ocarina of Time cartridge.

The trailer showcases quite a bit of the action and, while it may be somewhat hard to take seriously, it’s clear that everyone’s heart and soul went into the production, and it just may end up being fantastic.

The cast is made up of various internet celebrities, including the lovely Lisa Foiles as a sassy Princess Zelda, TJ Smith doing his best intimidating Eastwood, and Rawn Erickson as the dastardly Colonel Ganon.

According to an article Ms. Foiles wrote on Kotaku, the movie “is part of a new, ongoing project called MASHUP, where TGS is taking popular video games and mixing them with a movie genre.”

Does this mean we’ll be seeing more interesting mashups soon? I know I’m not the only one who would void their bowels if we got a Sonic/Star Wars crossover.

Split into a three-part miniseries, Fistful of Rupees debuts on The Game Station’s YouTube channel on August 7th.
